Thanksgiving is a family time
Getting together with fine food and wine
A celebration of the pilgrim fathers making a new land
and here we are still happy together to band

Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in America, Canada, India and several other asian countries.
Thanksgiving was first celebrated in 1621 by holding a feast in Plymouth with the pilgrim colonists and the Wampanoag people
Thanksgiving is to express gratitude to God for his blessings and thanks to dear ones for love and support and it is now celebrated by feasting with family. The usual fare for Thanksgiving Dinner is stuffed turkey and pumpkin pie.

In America Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the 4th Thursday in November and in 1863 President Lincoln declared this day as a public holiday.

In Canada Thanksgiving Day changed it's date several time through the years but in 1957 it was fixed as the 2nd Monday in October.

Here are my Thanksgiving Poems which I hope you enjoy and find useful:-

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect
It is also a time to connect
With all our family who are close or far away
To come together and celebrate Thanksgiving Day

The pilgrim fathers were very brave
They battled the ocean and survived giant waves
To come to a land where everything was new
I am sure that was really hard to do

Some perished as the harsh cold winter arrived
But some learnt new skills so survived
That is how we are here this Thanksgiving Day
So give thanks to our forbearers who learnt new ways

Turkey, corn, pumpkin pie
A table so full it's starting to sigh
Eating until you are overfull
It's thanksgiving again YAHOO

Stuffing and turkey baking pumpkin pie
The whole country is cooking not just you and I
But I will take a minute to send you this wish
For a wonderful thanksgiving and success with every dish

Mothers always get the work on Thanksgiving Day
They peel and chop roast and bake as the day slips away
But having all your loved ones sitting at your table
Makes it all worthwhile so you will do it as long as you are able
So as the day closes and the family fade away
Sit and put your feet up and enjoy THANKSGIVING DAY

Mom you always make thanksgiving a wonderful day
Only you can make it so perfect in every way
Please teach me to do it as you do
Then when it's my turn I will be just like you
